For my first post I would like to discuss what this web journal is about and the origin of my nickname, thefountain.
I am starting this free web journal service through wordpress to get an idea of whether or not I want to actually pay for my own site. The point is that I have a very analytical mind. So much so that I am constantly thinking, which attributes to my slight insomnia. I find most of my humor to come from my analytical thoughts, so I aim to make you either laugh or think, whenever you read my posts. Also I don't like the term "blog." It sounds a delapitated, dying tree; therefore I will be using the term "web journal."
Now to the actual subject matter. My last name is La Fontaine. It is french for "the fountain." No one ever called me "the fountain" until I got Xbox Live. I wanted to choose a gamertag that would be all lower-case, one word, and would not get me made fun of online. I decided to pick 'thefountain'. All of my online friends called me 'thefountain' or simply 'fountain'. I eventually met these people in real life and became good friends with them, and even though we were in person, they called me 'fountain'. From that point, my email, my twitter, my misc. usernames, and this journal all have fallen under the nickname. It's growing and I only hope it gets bigger, because I enjoy it. I know too many people with the name Alex, and my girlfriends dad is Al, and I despised Alexander; so, thefountain it is.
